The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Juarez blocks a head kick by Thoupos.
Thoupos tries a head kick but it misses.
Juarez goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Thoupos motions for Juarez to come forward. Thoupos throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Thoupos lands with a slapping head kick.
Alexander Thoupos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Juarez takes a swing at Thoupos's ribcage but misses.
Juarez connects with a nice looking jab.
Juarez tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Thoupos moves into the clinch successfully.
Thoupos crunches a lovely knee into Juarez's ribcage.
Thoupos throws a knee to the head but misses.
Thoupos throws a nice elbow but it doesn't land.
Juarez tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Thoupos connects with a nasty looking knee right to Juarez's face.
Juarez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Juarez is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Thoupos is defending well for now.

Thoupos breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Thoupos has Juarez up against the cage in a clinch.
Thoupos's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Juarez seems a little flustered. He's come in with the intention of controlling the clinch but Thoupos is preventing him from doing so, at least for the moment.

Thoupos manages to break the clinch.
Thoupos throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Juarez.

Thoupos throws a powerful right kick. Juarez tried to block low but the kick was high! Juarez was taken right off of his feet! Thoupos jumps in to finish the job and the ref tackles him! The fight is over!
