The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rico takes a swing at Jurgen's ribcage but misses.
Rico uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jurgen has time to react.

It looks like Paul Jurgen has been cut.
Jurgen changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Rico misses with a wild combination.
Jurgen throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jurgen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Rico as he avoids it easily.
Rico gets cracked there but stands up to it.

It looks like Rod Rico has been cut.
A slow jab from Rico misses its intended target.
Jurgen gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Rico.
Rico cracks Jurgen with a good jab.
Rico attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Rico feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Jurgens jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Rico throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Rico throws a low kick but Jurgen moves out of range easily.
Rico misses with a straight left.
Rico keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Jurgen closes the distance and clinches up with Rico, looking for a takedown. Jurgen pushes Rico against the cage but Rico circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Jurgen throws a jab but it's blocked by Rico.
A cross from Rico lands.
Rico defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jurgen.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Jurgen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The fighters circle momentarily. Rico darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Rico uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jurgen.

and Jurgen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Jurgen swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Jurgen walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Rico checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Rico drops his hands momentarily and Jurgen takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Jurgen walks into a straight right hand from Rico.
Rod Rico seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Rico's jab looks to have found its range, popping Jurgen under the eye.
Rico throws a leg kick but Jurgen sees it coming and moves out of range.
A big right from Rico misses.

Rico throws the left hand but Jurgen avoids the punch easily.
Jurgen throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Rod Rico is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Rico dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Jurgen is breathing heavily.
Jurgen gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Jurgen missing with a left hand there. Rico was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Jurgen throws a shot from downtown. Rico moves away and avoids it.

Rico drops Jurgen with a beautiful combination! Jurgen stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Rico is looking for the KO!

This has been an exciting period of action!
Jurgen moves out of range as Rico strikes.
Rico throws a shot from downtown. Jurgen moves away and avoids it.
This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Jurgen. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.
Rico is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Jurgen.

Rico cracks Jurgen with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Rico has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Jurgen to stand back up!
Oh Jurgen is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Paul Jurgen's cut is getting worse.
Rico is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Jurgen had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté.

Rico connects with a picture perfect right hand that knocks Jurgen out cold! This one is over in a flash!
