The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Hurt throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kovalev was covering up waiting for the punch and Hurt finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Kovalev looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Hurt is stalling in the full guard.
Hurt pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Kovalev is keeping the position for now.

Hurt gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Hurt tries to close the distance and clinch but Kovalev swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Hurt is looking to clinch.

Hurt moves into the clinch.
Kovalev keeps control of Hurt as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Hurt doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Kovalev pulls guard successfully.
Kovalev avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hurt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Hurt wants to pass the guard but Kovalev is keeping the position.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Big Hurt wasn't active enough on the ground.
