Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James Davinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gurney Halleck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Halleck is looking to clinch.
Halleck tries to clinch but Davinson moves away
and Davinson makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Davinson misses with a takedown attempt - Halleck sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Davinson moves into range and clinches up with Halleck.
Davinson can't break the clinch.
Davinson wants a takedown.

Halleck breaks from the clinch.
Halleck moves out of range as Davinson throws a body kick.
Davinson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Davinson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Davinson wants to control from the top but Halleck keeps moving.
Davinson won't allow Halleck to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Davinson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The ref stands the fighters back up. James Davinson wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Halleck instigates a clinch.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Halleck landing knees to the body.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Halleck is trying to wear down his opponent with knees to the body.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Halleck has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Davinson uses from the top position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Halleck can do anything to dispel that myth.

Davinson drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Davinson jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Halleck has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Gurney Halleck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Halleck jumps guard and drags Davinson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Halleck really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Davinson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halleck wants to get back to his feet but Davinson is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fight stays on the outside here - Halleck looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Halleck tries to close the distance and clinch up but Davinson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Halleck will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Gurney Halleck is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Halleck tries to close the distance and clinch but Davinson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gurney Halleck comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Halleck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
