PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Darren Robson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gildas Nkunda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nkunda has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Robson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Gildas Nkunda!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, George Francis and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nkunda throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Robson.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Robson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Robson lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Robson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nkunda looks like he's trying to stand up.
Robson is taking a breather. Nkunda says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Nkunda has hold of Robson's hands but Robson slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

Nkunda is breathing heavily.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Robson connects with a nice short shot to Nkunda's temple.

Robson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Robson wants to control but Nkunda is keeping him busy.
Robson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Nkunda with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Robson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nkunda is working away from the top position though.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Robson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Nkunda is fending him off so far but Robson persists. Nope, Nkunda circles away and we're back to standing.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
