PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brewster B (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Xavier Xahli (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xahli has chosen Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brewster B!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of London, Xavier Xahli!
The judges for this bout are Chris Edwards, Daniel Bishop and Andrew Berry.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
B fails with an attempt to clinch.
B shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Xahli as he jumps to the side.
Xahli closes this distance looking for a takedown but B circles away.

Xahli closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming B to the mat! B manages to get full guard.
Xahli is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Xahli has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Xahli tries to free his leg and advance position but B is retaining full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Xahli accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Xahli working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of B's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
B has momentary wrist control but Xahli slips an elbow through the middle.
Xahli throws and elbow that misses. B uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Xahli's guard. Nice move by B!
B working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Xahli wants to sweep here but B controlling him for the moment.

Xahli has his foot on B's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. B works his way back into a safe position though.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Xahli moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

B is controlling the pace.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. B connects with a nice short shot to Xahli's temple.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
B doesn't succeed with the takedown

and Xahli counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
B is controlling Xahli's trapped leg to prevent Xahli from advancing to side control.
B keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
B won't allow Xahli to pass to mount.
B has hold of Xahli's hands but Xahli slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.

B pushes Xahli off and gets back to his feet.

Xahli gets a takedown into half guard.
B is trying is best to control the position here.
Xahli looks to land a strike but B avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

B rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Xahli moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Xahli tries for a takedown but B sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
B throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Xahli counters with a single leg into guard. B didn't expect that.
Xahli stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. B swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Xahli thows a big elbow that misses.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now B is on top in guard.
B loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Xahli is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

B tries to get to full guard but Xahli has control of the leg.
Xavier Xahli has got the better of the ground game so far.
B wants to control but Xahli is keeping busy.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
B slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.

Xahli has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. B doesn't defend quickly enough and Xahli has managed to lock this one up! Can B escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Xahli on a fantastic submission victory.
