Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Steve Barns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nestor Makhno (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barns displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Makhno is defended easily by Barns.
Barns scores with a head kick. Makhno tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Makhno shoots in but Barns avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Barns smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Barns fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.

Barns stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barns wants it to stay on the feet.
Steve Barns has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nestor Makhno.
Barns throws a right and a left that Makhno avoids nicely.

Barns working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Makhno is looking to improve his position but Barns isn't that keen on the idea.

Makhno tightens his grip and picks Barns up, before dumping him to the ground. Barns manages to land in guard.

Barns is looking for a triangle but Makhno pushes his legs off easily.

Makhno is standing up over Barns. Barns looks to escape but Makhno dives into side control.
Barns regains half guard there - taking advantage of Makhno's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Makhno wants to work for an arm triangle but Barns is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Makhno is looking to stall here but Barns recovers full guard.

Barns goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.

Barns throws a right hand that Makhno ducks under and follows up with a left that Makhno also avoids with ease.
Barns tries to bum rush Makhno with a series of wild strikes but Makhno uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Makhno moves into the clinch successfully.

Makhno is trying to trip Barns. He has hold of a leg but Barns is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Makhno persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Makhno is looking to stand up but Barns won't let him.

Barns is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Makhno content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Barns has locked up a guillotine! Barns's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Makhno is holding on here and Barns must be using up a lot of energy. Makhno has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Barns gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
