The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Balboa lands with a shot to the body.
Balboa fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Alvarez on the side of the head.

It looks like Eddie Alvarez has been cut.
No luck for Alvarez with that takedown attempt.
Balboa fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Alvarez.
Balboa connects with a body shot.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Alvarez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Crunch! Balboa slams his shin into Alvarez's torso.
Alvarez looks gassed!

A punch lands to the side of Alvarez 's head but he takes it in his stride.

Alvarez tries to sprawl but Balboa drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Balboa tries to control but Alvarez wriggling away.

Balboa looking for a guillotine from mount but Alvarez is having none of it.

Balboa lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

Balboa jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Alvarez is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Alvarez and Balboa has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Balboa working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Balboa throws an elbow but Alvarez slips to the side and avoids it well.

Balboa wants to control but Alvarez is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Alvarez is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

Balboa is trying to get an arm triangle but Alvarez is defending well.

Balboa cracks Alvarez with a big right hand but Alvarez just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Balboa in side control, throwing shots but Alvarez defends.

Balboa goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Alvarez has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Balboa but great work by Alvarez.

Balboa is looking to slow Alvarez down with leg kicks.

The fighters circle, before Balboa throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Alvarez's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Balboa lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
