Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Freddy James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by We Want The Funk by George Clinton & the P-Funk Allstars. Thomas has chosen Devil went down to Georgia as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Freddy James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 7 - 0, fighting out of London, John Thomas!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Cecil Peabody and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas misses the shot to the body.
Thomas just misses with a punch to the body.
James wants to land a leg kick but Thomas is out of range.
Thomas lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Thomas misses with a low kick.
James takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

James closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
James missing with knees to the body.
Thomas lands an elbow inside that James shrugs off.


It looks like Freddy James has been cut.
James misses with an elbow strike.
Thomas goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Thomas tried to land a shot to the body but connects with James's elbow.
James swings away with an uppercut that misses.
James with the Thai clinch, lands a knee to the head.


It looks like John Thomas has been cut.
James fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Thomas is trying to force a seperation but James has the dominant position.

Thomas manages to break the clinch.
Thomas misses the jab.
Thomas lands a slapping body shot.

Thomas lets loose with a powerful body kick. James will feel that in the morning.
James throws a nice inside leg kick.
Freddy James seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Thomas manages to avoid it.

James paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.

Thomas misses with a short punch on the inside.

Thomas is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Thomas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
James ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

James keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
James fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thomas swats away the attempt to clinch by James.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Thomas shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense.
James tries to bum rush Thomas with a series of wild strikes but Thomas uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Thomas throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Thomas throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck James on the side of the head.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from James - that will leave a mark!

Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from James.
Thomas swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Thomas motions for James to come forward. Thomas throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
James tries to clinch up.
James connects with a good right hand that stumbles Thomas. Thomas circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Thomas throws a sloppy head kick and James moves out of range easily.
Thomas stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
James misses with a combination
and Thomas counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
James takes a jab right on the kisser.
Thomas needs to keep his hands up - James had a free shot at his head there.
James throws a sloppy head kick and Thomas moves out of range easily.
Thomas thows a body shot but no joy.
James tries to clinch up but Thomas circles away and keeps his distance.
Thomas ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
Thomas throws a lazy right hand but James sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

James misses with a wild combination.
James goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
James lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
James throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Thomas lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Thomas.
James avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Thomas motions for James to come forward. Thomas throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
James uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Thomas.

James gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Thomas lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Thomas blocking some punches.
James lands with a left to the head.
Thomas swings wildly with an uppercut but James uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Freddy James will probably get the nod.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.

Thomas walks forward, straight into a front kick from James.
Thomas connects with a looping right hand.
James takes a jab right on the kisser.
Thomas misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from James.
James tries to clinch but Thomas moves out of range.
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Thomas paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thomas swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Thomas throws a looping overhand right but James ducks down to avoid it.
James wants to clinch up but Thomas keeps it at a distance.
James ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Thomas moves away.

James looks to score with a jab to the body but Thomas is just out of range.
Thomas throws a combination that misses
and James counters with a lovely straight right hand!

James misses with a few strikes there.
James throws a head kick that misses.
Nice straight punches there by Thomas. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Thomas.
Thomas throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
Thomas takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
James pivots, looking for a leg kick but Thomas is out of range and James settles back down.
Thomas connects with a crisp jab.
James throws a series of punches but Thomas avoids them all with ease.

Thomas fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.

James pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Thomas throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

James drives through and clinches with Thomas against the cage.
Thomas managing to block the knees to the body from James.
James blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Thomas prevents a body shot from James.
Thomas blocks an uppercut.
Thomas stalling against the cage.
Thomas misses with a punch on the inside.
Thomas swings away with an uppercut that misses.
James working some nice short punches in the clinch.

Thomas throws a punch but it's blocked by James.

James comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.

Thomas tries to land knees in the clinch but James avoids the damage to the body.

James throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
James throws a solid leg kick but Thomas takes the impact on his shin and smiles at James.
James tries to score with a low kick but Thomas moves his leg out of the way.
James closes the distance looking to clinch
and Thomas counters with a stiff right hand.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Nice defenses there by James.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Freddy James dominated that second round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


James throws a series of punches but Thomas avoids them all with ease.
Thomas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. James tries to avoid it but Thomas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag James to the ground. James escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Thomas shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Thomas takes a shot to the head.
James is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
James lands with a left to the head.
James lands a left hand that snaps the head of Thomas backwards.

James breaks from the clinch.
Thomas is still on wobbly legs! Can James finish him?
Thomas lands a head shot.
Thomas takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Thomas throws a body punch but James moves out of range.
Thomas avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Thomas gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! James gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Thomas is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:47 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Freddy James!
