PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Miguel Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Masaaki Toro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toro has chosen "Tears Dont Fall" by Bullet For My Valentine as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Miguel Torres!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Masaaki Toro!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Tatsuya Matsuyama and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toro lands a leg kick that knocks Torres off balance momentarily.
Torres is trying hard to land a takedown here. Toro sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Toro closes the distance but Torres moves to the side

and Torres counters with a nice double leg into side control. Toro won't be happy with that.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

Torres thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Torres seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Toro for as long as he can get away with.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

We're going to have a standup here because Miguel Torres wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Torres bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Torres tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Torres has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Torres has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Miguel Torres overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Torres's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Miguel Torres.

Torres feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
