The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putnem tries to score a power double leg takedown but Cruz sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Putnem somewhat.

Cruz stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Cruz wants it to stay on the feet.
Cruz throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Putnem.
Putnem avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Domanick Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Cruz has closed the distance and engaged Putnem in a clinch.
