The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Papillion throws a right and a left that both miss.
Papillion lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Mercier circles away quickly and effectively.
Mercier avoids a punch combination nicely.

Mercier closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Mercier is just content to waste time from the top position. Papillion takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
Mercier forces his way into half guard.

Mercier maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Papillion could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Mercier has cracked it and Papillion is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Mercier!
