PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Akerman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack Suon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Akerman might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Eye of the Tiger!. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James Akerman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Jack Suon!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Suon fails to land the takedown.

Akerman instigates a clinch.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Akerman.
Suon gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Akerman.
Suon keeps control of Akerman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Suon misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Akerman pulls guard.
Suon cracks Akerman with a solid left hand.
Suon content to stall in guard here.
Akerman controls Suon momentarily but Suon frees himself.
Suon trying to control but Akerman is working from the bottom.

Suon thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Suon drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Akerman dives on top into guard.
Akerman postures up.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Akerman scoring with some ground and pound.
Akerman trying to control but Suon is working from the bottom.
Akerman keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Suon's head.
Akerman trying to control the position from guard on top but Suon is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Akerman has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Suon is proving hard to escape from.

Akerman drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Akerman jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Suon working a defensive guard here.

Akerman avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Suon lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Akerman!
Suon lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Suon sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Akerman tries to hold on but Suon postures up.
Suon controlling from the full mount.
Suon has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Akerman's face.
Akerman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Akerman regains half guard.
Suon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akerman keeps working.
Suon looks gassed!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Akerman wants to get back to full guard.
Akerman trying to control but Suon postures up.

Suon wants to work for an arm triangle but Akerman is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Suon is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Akerman is just riding it out for now. Suon eventually gives up the hold.
Akerman gets full guard.
Suon stops Akerman from standing up.
Akerman wants to sweep here but Suon controlling him for the moment.
Akerman throws a couple of weedy looking strikes off his back.
Akerman looking to control.
Akerman has momentary wrist control but Suon slips an elbow through the middle.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Suon wants to control from the top but Akerman keeps moving.
Akerman trying to control the position.
Suon pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Akerman is keeping the position for now.
Akerman is trying to keep Suon in close.
Suon passes Akerman's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Akerman wants to control but Suon is keeping busy.
Suon content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Suon works his way into full mount!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Suon is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Akerman is surviving well by controlling Suon's body position as best he can.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jack Suon dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Suon looking for a takedown here - he's got it.

Akerman is looking for a triangle here but Suon uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Akerman is looking for a sweep.
Suon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Akerman keeps working.
Akerman is looking for a sweep.
Suon advances to full mount.

Suon is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Akerman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Suon has hold of Akerman's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Akerman seems comfortable defending it but Suon has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Akerman is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Akerman is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Suon couldn't care less - he's delighted!
