The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Parr closes this distance looking for a takedown but Valadares Jr circles away.
A solid leg kick lands there for Parr.

Parr fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Valadares Jr, pushing him back against the cage.
The referee calls for Parr to work.
Valadares Jr jumps guard but Parr stands there with Valadares Jr around his waist. Valadares Jr gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Valadares Jr tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Parr smiles and moves away.
Valadares Jr keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and Parr counters with a nice double leg into guard.
John Wayne Parr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Pafuncio Valadares Jr.
Parr won't allow Valadares Jr to sweep him here.
Valadares Jr manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Parr manages to get himself to full guard.
Valadares Jr won't allow Parr to get back to his feet.

Valadares Jr thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Valadares Jr drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Parr manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Valadares Jr has Parr in his guard.
Parr is looking to stand up but Valadares Jr won't let him.

Valadares Jr goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Parr is on top in guard.

Parr has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Valadares Jr is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Parr drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Valadares Jr is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Parr is trying to trip Valadares Jr. He has hold of a leg but Valadares Jr is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Parr persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage!

Valadares Jr escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Parr gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Parr wants to stand but Valadares Jr has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Valadares Jr is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Parr has his hands clasped together but Valadares Jr extends an breaks Parr's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Valadares Jr.
