Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kip Pur (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ernesto Alvarez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alvarez has chosen El Condor Pasa by CantoAndino as his entrance music. Kip Pur has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Ernesto Alvarez!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alvarez misses with a hook. Pur ducked under it nicely.
Alvarez fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Pur manages to avoid it.
Pur tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Alvarez was well out of range. Poor timing from Pur .

Alvarez pushes Pur up against the cage in a clinch.
Alvarez is looking to break free of the clinch but Pur has double underhooks.

Pur gets control of Alvarez's arms and successfully pulls guard. Pur will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Alvarez keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Pur 's head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Pur has control of Alvarez's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Alvarez regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Pur misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Pur is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Alvarez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Alvarez shrugs it off.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

That was a close round but I would say that Kip Pur will probably get the nod.

Pur feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Alvarez can do anything to dispel that myth.
