Putin comes to the ring accompanied by .... Dean comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Eminence Front kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Putin fakes the leg kick and cracks Dean in the body.
Dean misses with a lunging right hand

and Putin counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Dean!
Dean looks gassed!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Putin is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Putin is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Putin looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Putin throwing shots but Dean is blocking nicely.
Dean is looking to improve his position.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Putin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Dean is just riding it out for now. Putin eventually gives up the hold.
Dean regains full guard. Nicely done.

Dean has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Putin is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Dean.

Putin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dean, who protects the arm well.
Dean gets back to half guard.
Putin seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Putin is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Dean defends it well.
Dean is pressing down on Putin's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Dean is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Putin frees his head nicely. Oh but Dean has switched to an armbar! Putin is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
