Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy McDermot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Phil Davis!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, William Peck and Yves DeLean.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McDermot clobbers Davis with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
McDermot fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Davis shoots in and bounces McDermot off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
McDermot is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Davis throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
McDermot avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Davis trying to control but McDermot is working from the bottom.
Davis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with McDermot. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Davis tries to free his leg and advance position but McDermot is retaining full guard.
McDermot lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Davis!
McDermot fails to move to back control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McDermot is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Davis to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Davis shrugs it off.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Davis tries to get back to half guard but can't.
McDermot wants to take his opponent's back but he's not managed it.
McDermot is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Davis is in real trouble.

McDermot has managed to slip his arm under Davis's chin. This could be all over... yep, Davis is tapping out! Submission win for McDermot.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:52 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Jimmy McDermot!
