Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Raul Hughes!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Johnson misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hughes.
Johnson shoots for a takedown but Hughes saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Hughes has closed the distance and engaged Johnson in a clinch.

Johnson is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Hughes gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Hughes lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Hughes stalling in the clinch.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Kyle Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hughes has a couple of punches blocked by Johnson.
Hughes tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Johnson being controlled against the cage.
Hughes lands with a left to the head.


It looks like Kyle Johnson has been cut.

Hughes throws a punch but it's blocked by Johnson.
Johnson wants to break the clinch but can't.
Hughes scores with a hook to the body.

Johnson manages to break the clinch.
Johnson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Johnson fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Hughes swats away the attempt to clinch by Johnson.
Johnson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Hughes pinned against the cage. Hughes gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hughes displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson.

Johnson tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Johnson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Johnson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hughes goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Hughes tries to throw a body punch but Johnson avoids it by throwing Hughes back against the cage.
Johnson lands with a short shot to the head.
Hughes pushes off an throws an elbow but Johnson leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Hughes lands on the inside with an uppercut.


Johnson is rocked!
Johnson tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hughes just stands there and leans against the cage.
Oh Johnson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Johnson blocks an uppercut.
Johnson seems to have got his legs back now.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Johnson prevents a body shot from Hughes.
Johnson is trying to drag Hughes to the mat but Hughes just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Hughes.
Johnson tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Hughes's elbow.
Hughes tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Johnson blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Hughes controlling the action here for a moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.
The crowd are getting on Hughes's back here. They're not happy about his lack of aggression in the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Raul Hughes.

Johnson clinches with his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Hughes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Hughes fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Johnson looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Johnson ducks under a wild hook from Hughes.
Hughes stuffs the takedown.
No joy there for Hughes, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hughes and Johnson are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Hughes throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Johnson into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Hughes knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Raul Hughes!
