PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Lupe Fiasco (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tibor Kov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tibor Kov told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kov drops his hands momentarily and Fiasco takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.

Kov closes the distance and clinches.
Fiasco on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Fiasco.
Kov misses with a body punch.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like Tibor Kov has been cut.

Kov pushes off an throws an elbow but Fiasco leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.

Fiasco rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kov moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Fiasco bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

A nice inside leg kick there by Fiasco. That's going to slow Kov down.

Kov tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Fiasco avoids it.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Fiasco will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kov up against the cage.

Fiasco is pressed up against the cage. Kov has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Fiasco down to the mat. Fiasco avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fiasco throws a wild combination but nothing lands.

Kov blocks a jab.
Fiasco does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Kov tries a body shot but Fiasco blocks it.
Fiasco's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Kov takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Fiasco escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

A right-left combo lands from Fiasco.
Kov fails in his attempt to clinch.
Fiasco lands with a good body shot.
Lupe Fiasco is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Fiasco tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kov paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Kov takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

and Fiasco counters with a head kick that drops Kov to the mat! Kov scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

and Fiasco counters with a three punch combo that has Kov backing up. Kov nods at Fiasco to acknowledge the strikes.

Kov seems to have recovered his senses.
Kov goes for a takedown attempt but Fiasco pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Kov throws a wild hook but Fiasco just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Kov gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Fiasco raises his hands in celebration and walks away!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Lupe Fiasco!
In his post fight interview, Lupe Fiasco started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
