These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Ruiz's corner calls for a 1-2. Ruiz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Black missing with a left hand there. Ruiz was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Black shoots in and drives through. Ruiz sprawls well.
Black tries for a takedown but Ruiz sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Black has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.

It looks like Travis Black has been cut.
A looping hook to the body misses from Black. Ruiz does a little dance to reset his feet.
Black throws a leg kick but Ruiz checks it.
Black fails with the takedown.
Carlos Ruiz has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Travis Black.
Nice takedown defense from Ruiz. No joy for Black on that attempt.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ruiz lands with an overhand left.
Black shoots in looking for a takedown but Ruiz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Black's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Black looks gassed!
Black has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Black there as he acknowledges the shot.
Black takes one to the chin there.
Black dodges the punch combination from Ruiz.
Black tries to close the distance and clinch up but Ruiz swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Ruiz lets his hands go wild with a nice combination. Left! Right! Uppercut! Spinning backfist! Black goes down and covers up as Ruiz starts wailing on him! The ref watches the action closely before stepping in and putting a stop to the fight!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Carlos Ruiz!
