PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nancy Botwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lyon Okiro (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Botwin comes to the cage accompanied by Little Boxes On The Hillside. Lyon Okiro told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Glass and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Okiro is looking to land body kicks.
Okiro takes a swing at Botwin's ribcage but misses.
Okiro lands a nice shot to the body.
Lyon Okiro seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Botwin moves forwards but Okiro connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Botwin tries to work over Okiro's front leg with a kick but Okiro checks it.
Okiro is looking to clinch but Botwin is avoiding it.
Okiro moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Okiro lands with a straight right. Botwin didn't see that one coming.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Botwin shoots in and bounces Okiro off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Okiro is looking to stand up but Botwin isn't so interested in that idea.

Okiro tries to land a sweep but no joy.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Botwin wants to pass the guard but Okiro is keeping the position.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Botwin accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Botwin working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Okiro pulls Botwin in close to prevent any damage.
Okiro working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Botwin.
Botwin won't allow Okiro to get back to his feet.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Botwin passes Okiro's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Botwin is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Botwin lands with some strikes.
The referee warns Okiro that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Botwin lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Botwin has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Okiro's face.

Okiro is rocked!
A big strike lands for Botwin! That's really hurt Okiro and he's turned his back - Botwin keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Botwin jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!
