The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steele lands a nice shot that snaps Tran's head back.
Tran gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Steele connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Steele lands with a good body shot.
Tran with a poor takedown
and Steele makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Tran shoots and misses
enabling Steele to counter with a crisp jab.
George Steele has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Tran.

Steele rushes Tran and presses him up against the cage.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Steele works on Tran's body with a couple of short punches.
Tran looks gassed!
Tran misses with a hook from the clinch.

Steele lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.

Steele digs a right hand underneath Tran's ribcage. Tran let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Steele lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Tran backwards.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Steele.
Steele lands a hook to the body. It's hard to tell if that hurt Tran or not.

Steele gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Steele seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Tran does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Steele looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Tran with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Steele tries to pass to full mount but Tran defends it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Tran can do anything to dispel that myth.
Steele thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Tran is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Steele scores with a couple of nice shots.
Steele is looking to take a break and control but Tran is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Steele missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Steele has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Steele is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Tran can't stay in a position like this for much longer.

Steele lands a big elbow.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Tran is rocked!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Steele cracks Tran with a big head shot that has him covering up instantly! He's rolled onto his side and the referee has seen enough - this one is aaaaaaaaaaall over!
