PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Hiroyuki Miyasako (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nao Sakumichi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hiroyuki Miyasako!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nao Sakumichi!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Ren Mimura and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miyasako fails in his attempt to clinch.
Miyasako moves in looking to clinch but Sakumichi pushes him off.
Sakumichi has a takedown stuffed.
Miyasako lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
A nice leg kick lands there from Miyasako.
Miyasako feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Sakumichis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Sakumichi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Sakumichi blocks a head kick by Miyasako.
A jab from Miyasako does it's job there.
Miyasako displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Sakumichi.
Nao Sakumichi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Miyasako moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Sakumichi fails with a takedown attempt.
Hiroyuki Miyasako has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nao Sakumichi.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Sakumichi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Miyasako wants to control but Sakumichi is keeping busy and won't allow it.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sakumichi thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Miyasako avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Sakumichi.
Miyasako knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sakumichi on the ground.
Sakumichi wants to advance to full mount but Miyasako doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Miyasako tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Miyasako pulls Sakumichi in to control the position.
Miyasako manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Miyasako trying to control but Sakumichi is having none of it.
Sakumichi is trying to escape the mount.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Sakumichi can do anything to dispel that myth.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Miyasako controlling from the full mount.
Sakumichi really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Miyasako can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sakumichi is looking to escape.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sakumichi working to try and regain half guard.
Sakumichi sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Miyasako is keen to just control but Sakumichi is a slippery customer.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

We're going to have a standup here because Hiroyuki Miyasako wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Sakumichi shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Miyasako as he jumps to the side.
Miyasako tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Sakumichi paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Sakumichi closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Miyasako moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Sakumichi looking to pass the guard.
Miyasako has his hands on Sakumichi's head, controlling the position.
Sakumichi throwing strikes from guard but Miyasako blocks nicely.
Sakumichi wants to pass the guard but Miyasako is keeping the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Sakumichi postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Sakumichi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Miyasako swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Sakumichi postures up in Miyasako's guard and throws a big left but Miyasako blocks it.
Miyasako is trying to control the position from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

We're going to have a standup here because Hiroyuki Miyasako wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Nice sprawl there from Miyasako as Sakumichi shoots in.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Miyasako bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Sakumichi has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Miyasako.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Sakumichi.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hiroyuki Miyasako dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Miyasako works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.

Miyasako forces Sakumichi back against the cage and clinches.
Miyasako connects with a knee to the head.


It looks like Nao Sakumichi has been cut.
Miyasako unloads a knee to the mid-section. Sakumichi lets out a prehistoric sounding urrrrgh.
Miyasako connects with a nasty looking knee right to Sakumichi's face.
Miyasako scores with a knee to the head.


Sakumichi is rocked!
Miyasako unloads an enormous knee to the head! That's knocked Sakumichi out cold! Holy cow, it was almost as if it lifted Sakumichi off his feet!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Knee). Hiroyuki Miyasako!
Hiroyuki Miyasako retains his featherweight title!
