Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Andre Walden (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Walden is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Bas Rutten - El Guapo likes to dance. Nick James had a look across the ring there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Nick James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andre Walden!
The judges for this bout are Paul Aken, Aafke Stam and Albert Achterberg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from James. Those never looked like landing.
James avoids a punch combination nicely.
James slips a jab from Walden.
Walden misses with a wild body shot.
Walden takes a swing at James's ribcage but misses.
Walden comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A punch combination from James misses.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walden but Walden pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Walden thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on James if he has to take too many more of those.
Walden fakes a jab and throws a low kick but James checks it well.

James avoids a kick to the body.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Walden but Walden pushes him off and we're back to square one.

James is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Walden is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Walden has escaped and now he's on top!

James is looking for a sweep. Walden is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

James is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Walden pulls his head out easily.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Walden wants to work for an arm triangle but James is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Walden scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Walden is looking to take a break and control but James is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Walden on the ground.
Walden is controlling the pace.

James is staying active underneath Walden, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

James takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

James throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Walden's waist but Walden gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing James off to one side.
Walden lands with a nice body punch.
James throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Walden sees it coming and avoids it easily.
James moves forwards but Walden connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Walden is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down James rather than just go for the knockout.
Walden looks to land a right hand but James moved out of range.

James ducks under a wild hook from Walden.

Andre Walden seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Nick James is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
James tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in the close the distance. Walden manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Walden.
James slips a jab and a cross from Walden.
Walden cracks James with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
James misses with a takedown attempt
and Walden makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

James takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
James takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Andre Walden showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well Walden has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
