Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Richard James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Casey Silk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). James comes to the cage accompanied by W32.Mydoom.AU@mm . The key to victory for Richard James has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Richard James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Casey Silk!
The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Donatello Bradman and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silk misses the shot to the body.
James moves out of range as Silk strikes.
James lands a jab to the nose.
James closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silk circles away.
Silk throws out a loose jab but James uses good head movement to avoid it.
Silk fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
James takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Silk slaps away a takedown attempt from James, before circling back to the center of the mat.
James shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Silk but Silk pushes him off and we're back to square one.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard James. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Silk shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts James as he jumps to the side.
Silk on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.

James scores a takedown into full mount!
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.

James looking to secure an arm triangle but Silk defends it well.

Silk working to try and regain half guard.

James jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Silk manages to avoid the submission attempt.

James tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
James trying to control the position but Silk is working away.

James decides to stand up, so the ref orders Silk to his feet.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James lands a body shot.
James really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Silk misses with the combination.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from James is defended easily by Silk.
Silk fakes high and swings low for a body shot but James manages to avoid it.
James closes the distance and clinches up with Silk, looking for a takedown. James pushes Silk against the cage but Silk circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
James closes this distance looking for a takedown but Silk circles away.
James stuffs the takedown attempt from Silk. Silk gets slowly back to his feet.

James throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Silk was covering up waiting for the punch and James finishes the takedown easily into guard.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Silk doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Silk is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Silk controls James momentarily but James frees himself.
James content to stall in guard here.
Silk keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
Silk is trying to keep James in close.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Silk wants to clinch.

Silk fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but James avoids it really well and circles away.
James has his takedown stuffed
and Silk counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps James thinking.

Silk shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Silk showed some decent athleticism there.

James looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silk thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed James's head.
James is looking to improve his position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard James dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Silk misses with a right hand

and James counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Silk!
James trying to control but he's not successful this time.

James stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Silk keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
James defending well as Silk loads up on a big left hand.
Silk fails to land the takedown.
Silk defends well against a solid takedown attempt from James.
Silk tries to clinch there but James circles away.

James feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Silk looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
James stops Silk from standing up.
Silk is breathing heavily.

Silk keeping moving, preventing James from controlling successfully.
James passes Silk's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Silk is refusing to be controlled, as James sits in half guard.
James trying to control from Silk's half guard. Silk has other ideas though and has regained full guard.

James decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Silk shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with James but James pushes him off and we're back to square one.
James changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silk tries to avoid it but James manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silk to the ground. Silk escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Richard James. That's going to take a lot out of him.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
James ducks under a wild hook from Silk.
Silk throws a right hand that misses
and James counters with a series of strikes. Silk will be more careful next time no doubt.
James shoots in and drives through. Silk sprawls well.
No luck for James with that takedown attempt.
James shoots for a double leg takedown but Silk sprawls well. He's pushed James's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Silk dips to his left and cracks James with an uppercut!
The fighters circling - Silk throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Silk throws a nice looking combination but James bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
James fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silk manages to avoid it.
James avoids the body shot from Silk.

James closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Silk is trying to control James's posture but James avoids it.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

James tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no James has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
James wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silk keeps working.
Silk manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Silk is looking to pass James's guard but actually James recovers to full guard.
Silk connects with a couple of short punches.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

James is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Silk avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
James keeping moving, preventing Silk from controlling successfully.
James preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Silk chips away with some ground and pound.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

James escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Silk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Silk trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Richard James dominated that second round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!

Casey Silk seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Silk tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Silk scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.


James is rocked!
Silk throws an overhand right that drops James like a sack of potatoes! Silk dives in to finish the fight with more strikes and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:27 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Casey Silk!
