Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Edward Gray!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Travis Riot!
The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Valeri Chadov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Riot rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gray moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Riot throws a series of punches but Gray moves out of range.

Riot shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gray is trying to defend but Riot finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Gray tries to roll over but Riot keeps him under control.
Riot really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gray. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Gray sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Gray is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Riot pulls his head out easily.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Gray wants to improve his position but Riot is controlling well.

Riot is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Gray doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Riot.
Riot wants to advance to full mount but Gray doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gray had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Riot defends it easily.
Riot must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Gray is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Riot is aware though and is defending well.
Riot stays in close to Gray's body and controls the position.

Gray is looking for a triangle but Riot pushes his legs off easily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Riot shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gray napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Gray manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Riot is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Gray wants to improve his position but Riot is controlling well.

Riot is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Gray defends it well.

Riot seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Riot is breathing heavily.
Gray is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Riot's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Riot's back!
Edward Gray overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Gray is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Riot has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gray has the rear naked choke here! This is very bad for Riot! Can he survive? No! He's out! Gray gets to his feet and celebrates with his cornermen. He looks absolutely delighted. In the post fight interviews he takes time to thank his parents and everyone who has believed in him from the start. How sweet.
