PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hans Baumeister (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dimitri Kolesky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Baumeister comes to the cage accompanied by My Name Is Optimus Prime. Kolesky has chosen PTP as his entrance music. Dimitri Kolesky will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Hans Baumeister!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Dimitri Kolesky!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baumeister tries to close the distance and clinch but Kolesky swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Baumeister forces Kolesky back against the cage and clinches.
Baumeister pushes off an throws an elbow but Kolesky leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage.
Baumeister tries to land a knee to the head but Kolesky blocks with his arms.
Baumeister lands a knee to the body.
Baumeister fails to pull guard.
Kolesky tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
Kolesky dodges an elbow strike from Baumeister.
Baumeister with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Kolesky lands with a short shot to the head.


It looks like Hans Baumeister has been cut.

Kolesky gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Kolesky is thwarting Baumeister's attempts to control the position.
Baumeister won't allow Kolesky to pass to mount.
Baumeister keeping hold of Kolesky's head, controlling as best he can.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Kolesky has decided to stand back up but his arm is trapped. Whilst he's worrying about his arm, Baumeister works to full guard.
Kolesky stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Baumeister swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kolesky is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

It looks like Kolesky might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Kolesky tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kolesky is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Baumeister is in real trouble.

Baumeister is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Kolesky gets his way!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Baumeister can't escape the position.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Baumeister closes the distance but Kolesky moves to the side
and Kolesky counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Kolesky lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Kolesky.
Kolesky tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Baumeister manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Kolesky tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Baumeister swivels and escapes.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Baumeister enables Kolesky to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Baumeister manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Dimitri Kolesky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Baumeister moves in looking to clinch but Kolesky pushes him off.

and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kolesky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Baumeister pinned against the cage. Baumeister gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Hans Baumeister has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dimitri Kolesky.

The referee asks Kolesky politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Kolesky prefers to stall for the moment though.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's time! Baumeister's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Baumeister stuffs the takedown attempt from Kolesky. Kolesky gets slowly back to his feet.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Baumeister shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Kolesky's guard.

Baumeister keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kolesky's head.

Kolesky is staying active underneath Baumeister, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Baumeister thows a huge punch but Kolesky dodges it nicely.

The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Kolesky got a little sloppy there for a moment and Baumeister has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Kolesky has managed to get both his arms back between Baumeister's legs - danger averted.

Kolesky avoids the strikes from the bottom by Baumeister.
Kolesky passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Baumeister!
Baumeister is squirming around, avoiding Kolesky's attempts to control the action.

Kolesky gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Kolesky fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Baumeister, pushing him back against the cage.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Baumeister.
Baumeister looking to throw knees to the head but Kolesky is blocking nicely.
Dimitri Kolesky is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Baumeister drops back, looking for a kneebar! Kolesky looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Kolesky looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Kolesky!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hans Baumeister.
I think Kolesky has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
