Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Beauvais (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Rodrigo Santos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Beauvais!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, Dillan Fox and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Santos fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Beauvais to the ground. Santos is now in Beauvais's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Santos tries to free his leg and advance position but Beauvais is retaining full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Beauvais is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Santos loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Santos has gone for a leg lock! Beauvais slips out almost immediately though and dives into Santos's guard.

Santos drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Beauvais manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Santos has Beauvais in his guard.

Santos lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Beauvais circles away quickly and effectively.

Santos jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Beauvais is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Beauvais and Santos has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

Santos is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. James Beauvais hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Santos will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Beauvais has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Santos has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
