Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Jim Keats (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Henry Pollock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Henry Pollock has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Keats!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 6 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Henry Pollock!
The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pollock shoots in looking for a takedown but Keats manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Pollock's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Pollock shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Keats napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Keats is trying to improve his position.

Pollock wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Keats, who protects the arm well.

Keats is not content to let Pollock control the position.
Keats sneaks back into half guard.

Keats is looking for a sweep. Pollock is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Keats slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Keats holds on and takes a little breather.

Keats is trying to keep Pollock in close.

Keats looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Pollock throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Keats works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Keats is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Keats trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Keats trying to keep a closed guard but Pollock is proving a slippery customer.

Jim Keats has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Pollock keeps the fight on the outside.
Pollock fails with a takedown attempt.
Keats buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Keats shoots in looking for a takedown. Pollock tries to sprawl out of it but Keats keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Pollock manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Pollock tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Keats swivels and escapes.
Jim Keats has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Henry Pollock.

Pollock gets tackled into the cage by Keats. Keats maintains the clinch.

Keats breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Pollock is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Keats shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Keats throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Jim Keats seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Keats.

and Pollock counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

That was a close round but I would say that Jim Keats will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.



Keats rushes Pollock and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Pollock is trying to push Keats away but Keats has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Keats tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Pollock just stands there and leans against the cage.

Keats pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Pollock decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Keats trying to control from the bottom.
Pollock wants to lay and pray for a moment but Keats keeps working.

Keats is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Pollock pulls his head out easily.

Pollock seems to be working for a kimura but Keats defends the submission attempt.
Pollock is breathing heavily.
Keats manages to get to full guard.

Pollock looking to sit in guard and control but Keats gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Keats controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Keats trying to control but Pollock is working from the bottom.
Keats cracks Pollock with a solid left hand.

Pollock has his foot on Keats's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Keats works his way back into a safe position though.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jim Keats.

Keats darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Keats tries to pass to full mount but Pollock defends it.
Keats is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Keats tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Keats looking to control but Pollock is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Keats's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Keats is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Keats wants to pass to mount but Pollock is defending the position.

Pollock takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Keats is trying to control. Pollock wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Keats seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

We're going to have a standup here because Jim Keats wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Keats throws a series of strikes that have Pollock backpedaling.

Keats fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Pollock to the ground. Keats is now in Pollock's guard.
Keats trying to control but Pollock is working from the bottom.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Keats wants to pass the guard but Pollock is keeping the position.

Pollock is looking for a triangle but Keats pushes his legs off easily.
Henry Pollock has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Pollock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Keats defends it easily.
Keats has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Keats drops back looking for a leg! Pollock is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pollock manages to kick Keats off! Keats jumps back into Pollock's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pollock pulls Keats in to control the position.
Keats is looking to work some ground and pound but Pollock has wrist control.
Keats slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Keats wants to control from the top but Pollock keeps moving.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Well Keats has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
