The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ripley drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Ripley wants to stand but Sutherland is controlling his posture from full guard.
Ripley is looking to work some ground and pound but Sutherland has wrist control.
Sutherland keeping moving, preventing Ripley from controlling successfully.
Ripley has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Sutherland is looking to sinch up a triangle. Ripley throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Sutherland's body to avoid the submission. Sutherland has instead reached around Ripley's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Sutherland arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
