PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Hashmallim Zadkiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Antelz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Zadkiel might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Morbid Angel - God of emptiness. Antelz comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Godsmack - Speak kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hashmallim Zadkiel!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eric Antelz!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Zadkiel manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Antelz on his heels. He'll look to pass Antelz's guard now, I'm sure.
Antelz looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Zadkiel wants to control from the top but Antelz keeps moving.
Antelz is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Antelz had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Zadkiel defends it easily.
Antelz throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Antelz is trying to keep Zadkiel in close.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hashmallim Zadkiel wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Antelz throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Zadkiel rushes Antelz and presses him up against the cage.

Zadkiel breaks from the clinch.
Zadkiel connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Antelz.

Zadkiel misses with a few strikes there.
Zadkiel is looking to take this fight into the clinch.

and Zadkiel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Zadkiel wants to pass the guard but Antelz is defending well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Antelz tries to buck Zadkiel off but Zadkiel is having none of it.

Zadkiel stands up and beckons Antelz to his feet.
Zadkiel wants to clinch up but Antelz keeps it at a distance.

Zadkiel shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.

Zadkiel can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Antelz is looking to escape.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

and Zadkiel counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Antelz is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Zadkiel is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Hashmallim Zadkiel.

Zadkiel tries to lock up and control but Antelz gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Zadkiel's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Antelz misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Antelz lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Zadkiel is desperately trying to improve his position but Antelz has a good base and remains in mount.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Antelz cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Zadkiel wants to hold on but Antelz pushes him away.

Antelz jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Zadkiel is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Zadkiel and Antelz has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Antelz creates a bit of distance and throws down some hard shots.

Eric Antelz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!


Zadkiel throws the kick towards the body but Antelz avoids it.

Antelz must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Antelz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Antelz takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Antelz is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Hashmallim Zadkiel.
I think Zadkiel has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
