Ward's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Tap Out. Vass is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Highway to Hell (AC/DC). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rick Ward!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Franklyn Vass!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Alan Glass and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ward darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Vass is in trouble now - Ward has advanced to mount!

Ward looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Ward throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Ward working for a guillotine from mount but Vass is in no mood to give up.
Vass is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Ward is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Vass can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Ward tries to control but Vass wriggling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Vass holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Ward tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

Ward wants to finish this one by submission but Vass is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ward.
Ward has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Vass working to try and regain half guard.

Ward throws some shoulder strikes here and then postures up. Oh, he's gone for an armbar! Vass has his hands clasped together but Ward breaks the hold and Vass is forced to tap! This one is aaaaaaaaaaall over! That was lightning fast by Ward!
