Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eikichi Onizuka (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Stefan Roosmalen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eikichi Onizuka!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Stefan Roosmalen!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Onizuka tries to sprawl but Roosmalen drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Roosmalen throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Onizuka on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Onizuka tries to get out of the position.
Onizuka controlling the position well.
Roosmalen throws a strike but Onizuka avoids it easily and moves to full guard.
Roosmalen is stalling in the full guard.
Roosmalen stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Onizuka swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Roosmalen tries to free his leg and advance position but Onizuka is retaining full guard.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Stefan Roosmalen hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Roosmalen feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Onizuka's calf.

Onizuka scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Roosmalen wants to get back to full guard.
Roosmalen is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roosmalen is holding on to half guard well.
Onizuka looks to land a strike but Roosmalen avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Roosmalen lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Onizuka!

Onizuka suckers Roosmalen into throwing a sloppy strike and uses the momentum to reverse the position beautifully! Onizuka is now in Roosmalen's guard!

Onizuka knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Roosmalen on the ground.

Roosmalen is looking to work some ground and pound but Onizuka has wrist control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Roosmalen is pushing down on Onizuka's leg trying to pass to half guard. Onizuka is fighting to maintain full guard but Roosmalen has managed to sneak the leg through.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!


A solid body kick from Roosmalen.
Onizuka is trying hard to land a takedown here. Roosmalen sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Roosmalen's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Onizuka connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Roosmalen scrambles back to his feet.
Onizuka lands with a nice combination. Roosmalen backs away looking to recover.
Roosmalen tries for a takedown but Onizuka sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Onizuka tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Roosmalen shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Onizuka sprawls well. Onizuka wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Roosmalen gets slowly back to his feet.

Roosmalen swings for the body but Onizuka moves out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Roosmalen connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Onizuka shoots in looking for a takedown. Roosmalen tries to sprawl out of it but Onizuka keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Roosmalen manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eikichi Onizuka. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Onizuka changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Roosmalen fights it off and pushes away nicely.

and Roosmalen counters with a nice double leg into side control. Onizuka won't be happy with that.

Roosmalen throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Roosmalen lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Onizuka down.

Roosmalen working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Let's hope that Roosmalen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Onizuka avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Roosmalen.

Stefan Roosmalen showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Onizuka is looking to clinch but Roosmalen is avoiding it.
Roosmalen shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Onizuka pinned against the cage. Onizuka gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Onizuka tries to clinch up but Roosmalen circles away and keeps his distance.

Roosmalen throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Onizuka was covering up waiting for the punch and Roosmalen finishes the takedown easily into guard.

I've got Roosmalen winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
