The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Block feints and as Rutten raises his hands in defense, Block changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

Block is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Rutten is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Rutten has escaped and now he's on top!

Block looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Block is looking for a triangle here but Rutten uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
Block tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Rutten wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Rutten working the ground and pound but Block is defending the strikes.

Rutten wants to control but Block is keeping him busy.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Rutten wants to stand but Block is controlling his arm.

Block had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Rutten defends it easily.

Rutten wants to stand but Block has his arm trapped.
Block sneaks back into half guard.

Block pushes a forearm under Rutten's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Rutten is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
