Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Byron Doerkson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rudolfo Halopovic (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Byron Doerkson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rudolfo Halopovic!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Chad Campbell and Russell Pearce.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Doerkson shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Halopovic as he jumps to the side.

Halopovic clinches.

Halopovic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Halopovic throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Doerkson on the side of the head.


It looks like Byron Doerkson has been cut.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Halopovic takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

Doerkson has his foot on Halopovic's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Halopovic works his way back into a safe position though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Halopovic tries to free his leg and advance position but Doerkson is retaining full guard.
Doerkson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Halopovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Doerkson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Halopovic is looking to work some ground and pound but Doerkson has wrist control.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Doerkson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
No joy there for Halopovic, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Halopovic tries to bum rush Doerkson with a series of wild strikes but Doerkson uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Byron Doerkson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Halopovic throws a left that rocks Doerkson and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Halopovic dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Doerkson regain composure!
Oh Doerkson is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Doerkson is breathing heavily.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Doerkson tries to improve position but can't.
Doerkson seems to have got his legs back now.

Halopovic looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Doerkson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Doerkson tries to get to full guard but Halopovic has control of the leg.

Halopovic seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Doerkson does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Doerkson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are battling for position here. Doerkson manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

Halopovic gets to his feet. Doerkson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Halopovic tests Doerkson's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A lazy left from Halopovic finds it's target.
Doerkson could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Halopovic misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Doerkson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Halopovic counters with a combination of strikes to the head and body that crumple Doerkson!

Doerkson manages to get to full guard.
Doerkson lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Halopovic!

Doerkson has hold of Halopovic's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Halopovic manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Doerkson seems like he's working for an arm triangle here. He's freed his trapped foot and he's rotating nicely. Halopovic is in big trouble! He's tapping out! This one is aaaaaaaaaaaall over!
