PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Carlie Phelps (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and sucre jackson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Phelps comes into the arena with Dixie blaring out of the sound system. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
jackson lands a high kick!

Phelps is rocked!

It looks like Carlie Phelps has been cut.
Phelps misses with a takedown attempt - jackson sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Oh Phelps is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Phelps feints and as jackson raises his hands in defense, Phelps changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Phelps advances position into side control!
Phelps seems to have got his legs back now.

Phelps wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by jackson, who protects the arm well.
jackson wants to control but Phelps postures up.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
jackson is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Phelps tries to advance to mount but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Phelps tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Phelps has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
jackson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
jackson is looking to regain half guard here but Phelps keeps moving and retains side control.

Phelps tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
jackson wants to control but Phelps postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Phelps tries to clinch up but jackson circles away and keeps his distance.

jackson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Phelps's guard.
jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Phelps. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Phelps working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. jackson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. jackson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Phelps is breathing heavily.

Phelps can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as jackson controls the pace.

jackson wants to get up but he can't break Phelps's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

jackson is sitting in close to Phelps's body. Phelps has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! jackson is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, jackson is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Phelps.
