PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Brent Huthe (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mike Riddell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Huthe comes into the arena with Rick Derringer - Real American blaring out of the sound system. The key to victory for Brent Huthe has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Brent Huthe!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mike Riddell!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Igor Prikhodko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huthe connects with a single shot there.
Riddell ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Riddell moves in looking to clinch but Huthe pushes him off.
Huthe leaves Riddell with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Huthe cracks Riddell with a good jab.
A punch combination from Huthe misses.
Brent Huthe seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Huthe keeps the fight on the outside.
Huthe throws a shot to the body.
Riddell wants to clinch up but Huthe keeps it at a distance.

Riddell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Huthe's waist but Huthe gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Riddell off to one side.
Huthe displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Riddell.

Huthe takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.

Huthe lands with a nice combination. Riddell backs away looking to recover.
The fight stays on the outside here - Riddell looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Riddell is trying desperately to land a takedown but Huthe is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Riddell.

Huthe is trying to control Riddell's posture but Riddell avoids it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mike Riddell showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Huthe shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Riddell sprawls well. Riddell wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Huthe gets slowly back to his feet.
Huthe moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
