Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Lil Pugilist!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, David Benjamin!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Benjamin shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pugilist but Pugilist pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Benjamin ducks right into an uppercut from Pugilist.
Pugilist tries to clinch but Benjamin moves away

so Benjamin counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Benjamin drops back looking for a leg! Pugilist is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Pugilist manages to kick Benjamin off! Benjamin jumps back into Pugilist's guard.

Benjamin has gone for a leg lock! Pugilist slips out almost immediately though and dives into Benjamin's guard.
Pugilist has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Pugilist preventing the sweep.
Benjamin has control of Pugilist's left arm, preventing Pugilist from doing any damage.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Pugilist throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Benjamin works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Benjamin is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Pugilist defends well.

Benjamin is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Pugilist is aware though and is defending well.

Pugilist drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Benjamin manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Pugilist has Benjamin in his guard.
Benjamin engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Benjamin stands up over Pugilist, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
Pugilist is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Benjamin is controlling him.
Benjamin is standing up over Pugilist. Pugilist looks to escape but Benjamin dives into side control.
Benjamin connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Pugilist some visible discomfort.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Benjamin wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pugilist keeps working.
Pugilist might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Benjamin tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Benjamin has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Pugilist is trying to get back to his feet.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Benjamin is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Pugilist has escaped the position, nice work there.
Benjamin advances nicely into full mount.
Benjamin connects with a couple of good shots from mount.


It looks like Lil Pugilist has been cut.

Benjamin wants to finish this one by submission but Pugilist is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Benjamin.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Benjamin tries to control but Pugilist wriggling away.
Benjamin landing punches.
Benjamin moves to the back position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Benjamin lands a couple of good shots to his opponent's body and a final shot to the head. Good little attack there by Benjamin.
Pugilist is trying to break free.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pugilist grimaces as he takes a shot to the body.
Benjamin has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Pugilist's body.

Benjamin is looking for the choke from the back position but Pugilist is controlling his hands well.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Benjamin wants to control but Pugilist is keeping busy.
Benjamin lands with a couple of good shots - one to the side of the head and one questionable shot that could be viewed as to the back of the head but the referee lets it go.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Benjamin is working for a rear naked choke. Pugilist is not defending it well and Benjamin has tightened it up quickly! This could be all over! Pugilist refuses to tap and goes to sleep, forcing the referee to intervene. A little trickle of blood came out of Pugilist's nose as his head slumped to the floor. That is naaaasty!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). David Benjamin!
