The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bourne fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Velasquez manages to avoid it.
Whitepride Velasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A looping hook to the body misses from Bourne. Velasquez does a little dance to reset his feet.
Bourne lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
A slapping leg kick lands for Bourne.
Velasquez just misses with a punch to the body.
Bourne scores with a crisp jab that stopped Velasquez in his tracks.

Bourne instigates a clinch.
Bourne creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.
Bourne cracks Velasquez with a nice body shot.
Bourne lands a left hand.

It looks like Whitepride Velasquez has been cut.
Velasquez tries to pull guard but Bourne won't allow it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Velasquez jumps guard but Bourne stands there with Velasquez around his waist. Velasquez gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Velasquez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Velasquez on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Bourne working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Velasquez takes a shot to the head.
Bourne lands a hook that snaps the head of Velasquez backwards.
Velasquez is looking to control Bourne's arms but Bourne gets an underhook and turns him. Now Velasquez has his back to the cage.
Bourne has Velasquez pushed against the cage.

Velasquez has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Bourne uses from the top position.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Bourne postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bourne content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Velasquez has locked up a guillotine! Velasquez's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Bourne is holding on here and Velasquez must be using up a lot of energy. Bourne has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Velasquez gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!
