PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Riaan Geingob (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Apollo Olympus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Geingob comes into the arena with Oficina G3 - Meus Proprios Meios blaring out of the sound system. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Riaan Geingob!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of New York, Apollo Olympus!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Joseph Jones and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Geingob circles away from the clinch attempt
and Olympus takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Olympus shoots in but Geingob avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Olympus shoots in looking for a takedown but Geingob manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Olympus's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Olympus closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Olympus cracks Geingob with a big elbow.
Geingob is trying to buck Olympus off.
Olympus misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Olympus throws an elbow but Geingob slips to the side and avoids it well.

Olympus swings around for an armbar but Geingob sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Olympus's guard.

Geingob stands up and waves to Olympus to follow him.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Geingob wants to get back to striking at distance but Olympus won't allow it.

Olympus tries to score a power double leg takedown but Geingob sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Olympus somewhat.
Olympus shoots in but Geingob avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Geingob fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Geingob leaves Olympus with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Geingob tries to bum rush Olympus with a series of wild strikes but Olympus uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

Geingob rushes Olympus and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Olympus has Geingob pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Geingob manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Geingob is pressed up against the cage. Olympus has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Geingob down to the mat. Geingob avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Geingob throws a combination. Olympus tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

It looks like Apollo Olympus has been cut.
Olympus shoots in looking for a takedown. Geingob tries to sprawl out of it but Olympus keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Geingob manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Geingob throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Olympus gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Geingob.
Olympus takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Riaan Geingob is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Olympus takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Geingob throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Olympus shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Geingob but Geingob pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Geingob will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Geingob turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.

Geingob circles away from the clinch attempt.
Geingob is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Olympus shoots in for a double leg but Geingob sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Geingob dances in with a quick combination. Olympus is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Geingob snaps Olympus's head back. Olympus stumbles backwards against the cage. Geingob steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Olympus's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Olympus just didn't come prepared.
