The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kirk throws a solid leg kick but Zeldenthuis takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Kirk.
Kirk lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kirk misses with a low kick.
Kirk fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Zeldenthuis is out of range.

Kirk scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Kirk lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Zeldenthuis is trying to escape the mount.
Zeldenthuis is bucking up trying to escape but Kirk cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Kirk misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Kirk unloads with some shots from mount but Zeldenthuis bucks and avoids them well.
Kirk tries to stand up but he's trapped just for the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kirk goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Zeldenthuis turns into him and now he's in Kirk's guard.
Kirk has momentary wrist control but Zeldenthuis slips an elbow through the middle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Kirk has his foot on Zeldenthuis's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Zeldenthuis works his way back into a safe position though.
