Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kevin Gonzales (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thurgood Jenkins (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gonzales might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Chiodos. Thurgood Jenkins will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gonzales shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Jenkins manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Gonzales avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jenkins working a defensive guard but Gonzales passes into half guard.
Gonzales not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
Jenkins blocking the ground and pound attempt from Gonzales.

Gonzales decides to stand up.
The crowd cheers as Jenkins lands an impressive looking overhand right. Gonzales doesn't seem phased though.

Jenkins closes the distance and pushes Gonzales back into the cage.
Jenkins is looking to break free of the clinch but Gonzales has double underhooks.
Jenkins tries a body shot but Gonzales blocks it.
Jenkins is trying to push Gonzales away but Gonzales has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Jenkins is trying to force a seperation but Gonzales has the dominant position.
Gonzales has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Jenkins is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Gonzales has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Jenkins is trying to keep an underhook but Gonzales manages to get the takedown into half guard.
Jenkins wants to get back to full guard.

Gonzales stands up and beckons Jenkins to join him on the feet.

Gonzales moves in looking to clinch but Jenkins pushes him off.

Gonzales tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Jenkins manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Gonzales connects with a leg kick. Jenkins looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it.

Gonzales feints and as Jenkins raises his hands in defense, Gonzales changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Gonzales has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Gonzales is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jenkins can't fight it off and eventually Gonzales manages to take the fight to the floor. Jenkins looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Gonzales stands up over Jenkins, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Jenkins has his foot on Gonzales's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Gonzales works his way back into a safe position though.

Gonzales gets control of Jenkins's arms and successfully pulls guard. Gonzales will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Gonzales has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Gonzales there as he acknowledges the shot.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
