PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Archie Francia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arnold Fortez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Archie Francia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arnold Fortez!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Tiny Johnson and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Francia closes this distance looking for a takedown but Fortez circles away.

Fortez is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Francia's half guard.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Fortez lands strikes from half guard.
Fortez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Francia. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Francia tries to roll over but Fortez keeps him under control.
Francia makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Francia.
Francia wants to sweep here but Fortez controlling him for the moment.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Francia tries to strike from the bottom.

Fortez got a little sloppy there for a moment and Francia has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Fortez has managed to get both his arms back between Francia's legs - danger averted.

Francia has his foot on Fortez's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fortez works his way back into a safe position though.
Fortez throws a big right hand that misses.
Francia trying to keep a closed guard but Fortez is proving a slippery customer.

Fortez wants to control from the top but Francia keeps moving.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Francia is on top in guard.
Fortez looks gassed!
Francia sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Fortez's guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Fortez wants to control but Francia is keeping busy and won't allow it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fortez can do anything to dispel that myth.
Fortez regains full guard. Nicely done.
Francia content to stall in guard here.
Fortez trying to keep a closed guard but Francia is proving a slippery customer.

Fortez manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Francia manages to get himself to full guard.
Francia is adopting a defensive guard.
Francia wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Fortez manages to pass to side control.
Fortez is controlling the pace.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fortez tries to pass the half guard into mount. Francia knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Francia is trying to maintain the position but Fortez is very close to passing his half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Francia wants to get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Archie Francia will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and Fortez counters with a takedown into side control.
Francia gets back to half guard.
Francia makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Francia.
Francia wants to stand and escape but Fortez is having none of it.

Fortez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.
Francia throws some sloppy strikes off his back.

Fortez thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

Fortez stops Francia from standing up.

Francia looking for a triangle here. Fortez is fighting it but it looks tight! Francia pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Fortez is tapping out - this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:39 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle Choke). Archie Francia!
