PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mike Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ariel Piechocki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Williams comes to the cage accompanied by A Kind of Magic. The crowd seem to be enjoying Piechocki's choice of entrance music: I AM A CHAMPION. Ariel Piechocki is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Ariel Piechocki!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams connects with a body shot.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Piechocki.
Williams fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Piechocki manages to avoid it.
Horrible takedown by Piechocki or perhaps it was just good defense by Williams which made him look bad.
Piechocki has a takedown stuffed.
Mike Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ariel Piechocki.
Williams fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Piechocki gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Piechocki takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Piechocki gets to his feet - Williams follows without any prompting.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Williams catches Piechocki with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!

Piechocki misses with a takedown attempt - Williams sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Williams lands with a shot to the body.

Piechocki clinches.

Piechocki breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
A left and a right from Williams both land. Nice combination.

Piechocki rushes Williams and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Piechocki.
Piechocki keeps control of Williams as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Piechocki using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Williams has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Williams gets underhooks to prevent Piechocki's takedown attempt.

Williams blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.

Piechocki slowing the pace effectively.
A right hook to the body lands for Piechocki.
Piechocki tries to pull guard but Williams holds him up against the cage and eventually Piechocki drops back down to his feet.
Piechocki tries for a takedown. No joy.
Williams has had enough of the clinch but Piechocki keeps him there for the moment.
Williams is looking to break free of the clinch but Piechocki has double underhooks.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Piechocki gets control of Williams's arms and successfully pulls guard. Piechocki will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Piechocki really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Williams. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Piechocki wants to sweep but no luck.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Mike Williams will probably get the nod.

Piechocki takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Williams throws a shot to the body.
Williams catches Piechocki with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
A looping hook to the body misses from Williams. Piechocki does a little dance to reset his feet.
Williams looks to score with a jab to the body but Piechocki is just out of range.
Ariel Piechocki is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Williams throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Piechocki counters by moving into the clinch.
Williams is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Williams looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Piechocki wants a takedown but no success here.
Come on Piechocki - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.

Williams works Piechocki's body with a nice hook.
Mike Williams is winning the standup battle so far.
Williams lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Williams.
Williams paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Williams throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Piechocki stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Piechocki on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
Williams lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Williams cracks Piechocki with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Piechocki closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nice takedown defense from Williams. No joy for Piechocki on that attempt.

Piechocki shoots in for a double leg but Williams sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

The crowd cheers as Williams lands an impressive looking overhand right. Piechocki doesn't seem phased though.

Williams's jab looks to have found its range, popping Piechocki under the eye.
Williams tries to bum rush Piechocki with a series of wild strikes but Piechocki uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Williams throws a nice looking combination but Piechocki bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Williams dips to his left and cracks Piechocki with an uppercut!

Williams tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Piechocki was well out of range. Poor timing from Williams.
Piechocki has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Williams takes a swing at Piechocki's ribcage but misses.
Piechocki closes this distance looking for a takedown but Williams circles away.
Piechocki takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Williams lands a body shot.
Ariel Piechocki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Williams scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Piechocki forces Williams back against the cage and clinches.
Williams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Williams wants to break the clinch but can't.

Piechocki turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Williams is pushing Piechocki's head away, looking to escape. Piechocki manages to hold on to the position though.
Piechocki advances to mount.
Williams trying desperately to get to his feet.
Piechocki controlling the position easily from mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Piechocki swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Williams is now in Piechocki's guard. A big mistake from Piechocki there, giving up the dominant position!
Williams wants to stand but Piechocki is controlling his posture from full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Piechocki pulls Williams in close to prevent any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mike Williams showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Williams, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
