Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Brian Boss (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and William Huff (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Boss!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, William Huff!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Alyssa Summers and Steve Montenegro.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Huff tries to score a power double leg takedown but Boss sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Huff somewhat.
Boss with a body punch. A glancing blow.
Huff shoots in looking for a takedown. Boss tries to sprawl out of it but Huff keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Boss manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Boss throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Huff was covering up waiting for the punch and Boss finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Huff is trying to keep Boss in close.
Huff is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Boss is controlling him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boss trying to stand up but can't free himself from Huff's guard.

Huff is trying to keep Boss in close.
Huff looking to hit a scissor sweep but Boss is one step ahead there.

Boss stands and steps away. Huff gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Boss closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like William Huff has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Huff shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boss's guard.
Huff looks gassed!
Boss wants to sweep here but Huff controlling him for the moment.
Boss seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

Huff is looking to stand up but Boss won't let him.

We're going to have a standup here because Brian Boss wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Boss shoots in for a double leg but Huff sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Huff shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Boss is trying to defend but Huff finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Huff must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Huff looking to sit in guard and control but Boss gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Boss gets to his feet - Huff follows without any prompting.
Boss throws a right hand that Huff ducks under and follows up with a left that Huff also avoids with ease.
Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by Boss!

Boss gets a double leg takedown into Huff's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Boss would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Boss works over Huff's head and body with a nice combination.

Boss lands a left and a right that send Huff crashing to the mat, dazed. Boss thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Boss misses with a combination

and Huff counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Boss is not content to let Huff control the position.
Boss slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
William Huff has got the better of the ground game so far.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Boss is on top in guard.
Huff is breathing heavily.

Boss stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Huff shoots for a takedown but Boss saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Boss shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Huff eats them both and turns towards Boss to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Boss slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Boss will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Boss works over Huff's head and body with a nice combination.
Boss lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Huff circles away quickly and effectively.
Some wild striking there from Boss.
Huff gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.

Boss darts in and clinches Huff up against the cage.

Boss breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Boss feints a jab promting Huff to slip. Boss then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Huff slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Boss throws a nice looking combination but Huff bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Boss lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Huff throws a leg kick which misses Boss's front leg but catches the back leg as Boss tries to avoid it.
Boss lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Boss.

Huff shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Boss's guard.

Boss looking for a sweep. Not yet Boss, not yet.

Huff advances to half guard.
Huff is keen to just control but Boss is a slippery customer.
Boss on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Boss tries to get out of the position.
Huff seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Boss pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Boss fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Huff.
Brian Boss has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of William Huff.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boss is defended easily by Huff.
Huff takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Boss.
Huff moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
Boss throws a good cross that connects.
Huff takes one to the chin there.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Boss is defended easily by Huff.
Huff will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Boss stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Boss wants it to stay on the feet.

Huff takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Huff gets tackled into the cage by Boss. Boss maintains the clinch.
Huff tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Boss just stands there and leans against the cage.

Boss looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Boss has Huff pressed against the cage, preventing Huff from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Boss manages to break the clinch.
Boss uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Huff has time to react.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Brian Boss.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Boss, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
