and Maxwell counters with a nice uppercut.

Maxwell throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Romanov's waist but Romanov gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Maxwell off to one side.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Maxwell.
Ross Maxwell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Maxwell shoots for a double leg takedown but Romanov sprawls well. He's pushed Maxwell's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Maxwell feints and then cracks Romanov's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Romanov down.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Romanov throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maxwell.
Maxwell seems to have got his legs back now.
Nikolas Romanov is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Maxwell walks straight into a right hand from Romanov - that's dropped him! Romanov jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Maxwell from any more punishment! Maxwell complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.
