The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

preston feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Dawson tries to land a sweep but no joy.
preston is pushing down on Dawson's leg trying to pass to half guard. Dawson is fighting to maintain full guard but preston has managed to sneak the leg through.
Dawson is in trouble now - preston has advanced to mount!

Dawson is desperately trying to improve his position but preston has a good base and remains in mount.

preston is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Dawson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time preston.

Dawson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with preston. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

preston goes for an armbar but Dawson turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Dawson.

preston working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dawson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dawson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dawson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but preston manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Dawson has preston in his guard.
