PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Junior Soprano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jarbas Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Soprano comes to the cage accompanied by anabolic. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Junior Soprano!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jarbas Silva!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jab by Soprano.
Silva dodges the punch combination from Soprano.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Junior Soprano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Silva changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Soprano looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Soprano's face as Silva controls the position.
The strikes coming from Silva are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Silva is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Soprano's shoulder. That is not cool.
It looks like Silva might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Silva wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Soprano, who protects the arm well.
Silva happy to just control the position for now.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Jarbas Silva hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
A combination from Soprano does no damage.
Soprano tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Silva was well out of range. Poor timing from Soprano.
Soprano scores with a three punch combo!

Silva gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Soprano looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Soprano has had enough of the clinch but Silva keeps him there for the moment.

Silva turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Silva remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Soprano misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

Silva takes the fight into the clinch.
Silva keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Soprano's efforts to push away.

Silva pulls guard.
Soprano wants to stand and escape but instead Silva has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Silva won't allow Soprano to get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Soprano is breathing heavily.
Silva content to stall in guard here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jarbas Silva dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Silva shoots in but Soprano avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Soprano misses with a two punch combination.
A looping hook to the body misses from Soprano. Silva does a little dance to reset his feet.
Soprano throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Horrible takedown by Silva or perhaps it was just good defense by Soprano which made him look bad.
Silva fails with a takedown attempt.
Junior Soprano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jarbas Silva.
A combination from Soprano does no damage.
Soprano throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Silva throws a right hand that Soprano ducks under and follows up with a left that Soprano also avoids with ease.
Silva shoots in looking for a takedown but Soprano manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Silva's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Silva looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Soprano misses with a two punch combination.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Silva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Silva forces his way into half guard.
Silva scores with a couple of good hammerfists.
Silva trying to mount his opponent but Soprano defends it.
Silva passes the guard and advances to mount!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Soprano in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Silva working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Soprano is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jarbas Silva showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Soprano's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Silva bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Jarbas Silva has got the better of the ground game so far.
Silva looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Soprano is avoiding damage well.
Silva controls the position.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Jarbas Silva wasn't active enough on the ground.

Silva drives through with a takedown into Soprano's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.
Soprano wants to get back to his feet but Silva passes into half guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Silva escapes and gets back to his feet.

Silva shoots in and gets a takedown into Soprano's guard.
Silva is working Soprano over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Silva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Silva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Silva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Soprano has escaped the position, nice work there.

Silva has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Silva cracks Soprano with a big elbow.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Silva happy to just control the position for now.
Jarbas Silva is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Soprano tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Jarbas Silva comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Silva winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
