The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Donelly counters with a three punch combo that has Cruz backing up. Cruz nods at Donelly to acknowledge the strikes.
Cruz tries to clinch but Donelly is having none of it.
Cruz changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Donelly tries to avoid it but Cruz manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Donelly to the ground. Donelly escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Donelly scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Cruz on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Cruz wants to clinch but Donelly slips to the side
and Donelly counters with a three punch combo that has Cruz backing up. Cruz nods at Donelly to acknowledge the strikes.
Cruz tries to clinch but Donelly moves out of range.
Cruz fails with the takedown.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Donelly looks to land a combination but Cruz avoids it well.
Donelly scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
Donelly lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Donelly throws a sloppy head kick and Cruz moves out of range easily.
Cruz tries to clinch up.

Joseph Donelly has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyson Cruz.
Cruz sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
Donelly cracks a nice hook into Cruz's ribs.

Donelly scores with the left hand. Cruz knows he should have avoided that one.
Donelly lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Cruz is trying desperately to land a takedown but Donelly is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Cruz.

and Donelly counters with a two punch combo.
Donelly swats away the attempt to clinch by Cruz.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Cruz is defended easily by Donelly.
Donelly keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Cruz looks gassed!

Cruz wants to clinch but Donelly slips to the side
and Donelly counters with a nice uppercut.
Donelly bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Cruz's head.
Donelly stuffs the takedown attempt from Cruz. Cruz gets slowly back to his feet.
Donelly lands a high kick!

Cruz is rocked!
Tyson Cruz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cruz tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Donelly dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Cruz. That did some damage!
Cruz walks into a left hand.
Good leg kick by Donelly there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Donelly is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.

Cruz doesn't manage to clinch there - Donelly circles away.
Cruz takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Donelly stuffs the takedown.
Donelly connects with a solid leg kick.
Joseph Donelly is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Donelly tests Cruz's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Donelly stalks Cruz and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Cruz's face. Cruz staggers backwards, shaken.
Donelly lands a head kick!
Cruz is still on wobbly legs! Can Donelly finish him?
Cruz wants to clinch but Donelly slips to the side
and Donelly counters with a low kick, right behind Cruz 's knee.
A cross from Donelly lands.
Both fighters step back and shake their arms out. Donelly engages and cracks Cruz with a massive lead left hook - Cruz tumbles to the floor, out cold! What a shot! Donelly is delighted - all that hard work in training paid off!
