The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gitler closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Abdalla successfully pulls guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Abdalla manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Gitler manages to get himself to full guard.

Gitler has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Abdalla can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Abdalla misses with a head kick.
Gitler tries to close the distance and clinch but Abdalla swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Gitler is breathing heavily.
Abdalla throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gitler's waist but Gitler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Abdalla off to one side.

Abdalla working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Gitler turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Abdalla off and cradles Gitler's limp body as Abdalla celebrates with his corner.
